GUIDE: How to Assemble a Stunt Scooter
Most stunt scooters arrive partially assembled, making them easier to ship and protect during delivery. The good news is that putting a scooter together is quick and simple, usually taking only a few minutes with basic tools. Most stunt scooters are designed so riders can assemble them quickly straight out of the box.
In this guide we’ll walk through the steps to assemble your stunt scooter safely so you can get riding as quickly as possible.
What You’ll Need
Before you start, make sure you have the following tools:
- Allen keys (Size 5 and 6 most common)
- Potentially a spanner or socket (13mm)
- A flat surface to work on
Most scooters arrive with everything needed to complete assembly.
Step 1: Install the Handlebars
Most scooters only require installing the handlebars, as the wheels and deck are already assembled from the factory.
Insert the handlebars into the clamp (usually already on), and slide on top of the fork.
Make sure the bars are straight and aligned with the front wheel and use the Allen key to tighten the clamp bolts evenly so that the scooter is stable, do not tighten all the way until Step 2 is complete.
Tip: Tighten each bolt a little at a time rather than fully tightening one bolt first.
Step 2: Align the Scooter
Once the bars are installed, stand the scooter upright.
Check that:
• handlebars are straight and inline with the front wheel
• front wheel is facing directly forwards
Adjust if necessary.
Step 3: Tighten the Clamp Bolts
Use your Allen key to tighten the clamp bolts securely.
Make sure:
• all bolts are tightened evenly
• the bars cannot twist out of line with the wheel when you apply pressure
Do not over tighten the bolts.
Step 4: Final Safety Check
Before riding, quickly check the scooter:
• clamp bolts are tight
• wheels are tight but spin freely
• bars are straight
• brake works correctly
Once everything is secure, your scooter is ready to ride.
Common Assembly Mistakes
Uneven clamp tightening
Tightening one bolt fully before the others can cause the bars to sit unevenly.
Misaligned handlebars
Always check the bars are aligned with the wheel before tightening the clamp.
Over tightening bolts
Clamp bolts should be tight, but over tightening can damage components.
